The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has refuted suggestions that she insulted creative persons following her political attack on actor John Dumelo, the parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
The Minister was taken to the cleaners after she suggested that that Parliament is too serious a place for John Dumelo who is seeking to become the Member of Parliament for the area.
“Parliament is a very serious business, it’s a serious place. The place is not for those who think they can heal the sick. No! No! No! No! No! Do not let that happen. It is a serious place,” she said.
“If you mistakenly vote for John Dumelo instead of Lydia Alhassan, you’ll always be watching movies at the movie theatre,” Ayorkor Botchwey added.
She was asked to apologise for her comments since in the view of her critics, it was not proper for her to uttered those comments.
However, the Minister says she has a lot of respect for the creative industry and that her comments were particularly targeted at the political incompetency of John Dumelo and not the entire creative industry.
