Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, parliamentary candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Awutu Senya East constituency has accused the Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson of hiring assassins to eliminate her because she sees her as a threat to the parliamentary polls.
Two persons have sustained injuries near the Steps to Christ polling station at Kasoa, in the Awutu Senya East constituency after the vehicle they were in was shot at by some assailants in a black SUV.
One is currently on admission at the 37 Military Hospital and in critical condition.
Reacting to the incident, the NDC candidate said the MP has arranged to bus thugs from the Kokomba market in Accra to come and snatch ballot boxes in the constituency.
She told Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that she cannot be killed and would not even suffer any wounds if she is shot.
She asked the security agencies to deal with the matter because the NDC will not allow the MP to intimidate them.
The candidate sent a caution to the NPP to desist from their plot to rig the elections.
She also alleged that the vehicle used in carrying out the shooting incident today, form part of the vehicles used by the MP.
