The Member of Parliament for the Essikadu Ketan Constituency of the Western region, Joe Ghartey, has expressed interest in contesting in the 2024 presidential election.
The legislator who is currently the Railways Minister told Empire Fm in Takoradi that if all things being equal, he will contest as president.
He was responding to a survey that has placed him, Alan Kyeremanten Dr. Bawumia as the key persons to be considered as candidates by the party in 2024.
He said the truth is just one, ”last elections, I contested and came third. Akufo-Addo was first, Kyeremanten was second. 2024, if it is the will of God, I will contest as a presidential candidate.”
Joe Ghartey retained his seat as MP in the parliamentary election.
He defeated his opponent in the 2020 polls to maintain his seat after an initial hitch.
Electoral results collated from a total of 152 polling stations out of 154, has Joe Ghartey leading with 26,407 votes, representing 52.2 percent.
