Public Relations and Communications expert Raymond Ablorh who is popularly known as ‘President Ablorh’ has described President Akufo-Addo’s 2020 election victory as tainted.
The outspoken media personality believes the NPP came out of the 2020 polls badly burnt politically despite touting the implementation of the free SHS, one district one factory among others.
In an opinion piece, Mr. Ablorh indicated that “Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration came out of the 2020 elections visibly burnt electorally.
“Mature party members and supporters are worried. They understand what’s happened to them even with this tainted victory.”
He further opined that the government listened to no one and did things anyhow.
“It’s, however, not surprising to many conscious citizens how the President and his Party arrived here. They listened to nobody, not even to their own party faithfuls, yet, they labelled themselves a listening government.”
He added that the government together with the EC manipulated things in their favour but yet, the results have shown that Ghanaians are not satisfied with their performance.
Meanwhile, he has stated that the NDC has managed to convince Ghanaians that the results were manipulated.
“While the NDC hasn’t declined the invitation to court to address the issues they seemed to be working hard on the hearts and minds of citizens with protests and sunshine communication on their way while hanging “it isn’t over yet” banner on the entire nation.
It’s that banner that many people are scared of, especially so, because of the burning of tyres and other radical activities that accompany their otherwise peaceful protests.”

Many citizens genuinely didn’t expect Ghana Police to do anything meaningful about the Techiman killings. They saw what happened at Ayawaso Wugon’s by-election and how the President treated Short’s Commission Report. Some saw that disgraceful event only as a rehearsal.
As the people expected, while our police chased to arrest and prosecute people who are threatening the state, nobody has been held responsible for the killings. That’s characteristic of Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration otherwise somebody like Kennedy Agyapong wouldn’t be walking untouchably free.
Two elections results narratives fought right from just after the elections and the counting and collation started. Both NDC and NPP said they’ve won to the confusion of many a citizen but the NPP’s narrative visibly dominated in the media sphere till the Electoral Commissioner declared the results.
The results which, were quickly disputed and rejected by John Mahama and the NDC captivated citizens’ attention thus making them pay closer attention to them. As time wore off the bandwagon effect of media projections that the NPP had won both presidential and Parliamentary elections, people saw how the figures announced kept changing without adequate explanations.
The NDC pushed harder after Sene West seat came to them and they publicly displayed their Techiman pink sheets and results convincingly to heighten citizens’ suspicions.
Already, a study conducted by CDD ahead of the 2020 elections had revealed that about 44% of respondents mistrusted the Government and EC and they believed they’re likely to rig the elections. Avoidable errors made by the EC only solidified citizens’ suspicion and shaped public perception.
That empowered NDC supporters to fight harder. They’re fully convinced that John Mahama’s hand was twisted in the 2020 elections. Regardless of how you look at it, that perception is far beyond the NDC political domain.
What some people, however, think is that in the name of peace, John Mahama and the NDC should let go or go to court knowing if they go to the Supreme Court there’s no way they’d be favoured.
While the NDC hasn’t declined the invitation to court to address the issues they seemed to be working hard on the hearts and minds of citizens with protests and sunshine communication on their way while hanging “it isn’t over yet” banner on the entire nation.
It’s that banner that many people are scared of, especially so, because of the burning of tyres and other radical activities that accompany their otherwise peaceful protests.
Ahead of the inauguration of the EC declared and gazetted president, security and COVID-19 concerns have forced organisers to use Parliament instead of the known place for such events in Ghana. The Police have also secured injuction on NDC organized protests ahead of the inauguration. Some citizens are still criticizing that action.
But one thing is obvious, after all the electoral office and system manipulations Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration did with the Jean Mensa led EC;
after all the free water, free electricity, Free SHS, etc., Nana Akufo-Addo gave citizens as part of COVID-19 coping assistance;
after all the 1D1F, 1V1D, 1C1M, Planting for Food and Jobs, NaBCO, etc;
after all the election year sod-cutting and commissioning of projects;
after outperformining Kwame Nkrumah’s administration in less than four years,

Mature party members and supporters are worried. They understand what’s happened to them even with this tainted victory.
It’s, however, not surprising to many conscious citizens how the President and his Party arrived here. They listened to nobody, not even to their own party faithfuls, yet, they labelled themselves a listening government.
The concerns of local people at the grassroots didn’t matter to party Executives and functionaries. They arrogantly chose for some of them Parliamentary Candidates, and got the President himself to make the politically dangerous statement that he can’t and won’t work with any independent.
They’re too wise in their own eyes. You dared not critique their actions and inactions. They brushed all dissenting voices with one brush and paint and dealt with all of them as one group of naysayers and professional Jeremiahs to borrow the President’s own expressions in his petty moments.
They naively expected citizens including those who vociferously fought corruption with them in opposition to shut up because they’re the right families and people to capture the state and own the nation’s resources.
To them, once they’re providing FSHS, have painted some old factories and helped get few new ones established (while others collapsed) under 1D1F, built a lot of toilets, providing free electricity, free water, etc., they’ve the right to siphon public resources the way they like with fraudulently crafted deals.
They’re so confident they’ve won with bigger margin than what they got in 2016 because of all the plans they’d put down and executed so pefectly, but, at the same time, information from the grassroots shook them thus making them campaign as if they’re ìn opposition yearning to come to power.
President Nana Akufo-Addo isn’t a bad person. He meant well, but, he’s failed as a President to recruit the right team of people, supervise them well, and put his feet on the ground as many expected to fight corruption vigorously.
He acted as if he’s involved thus Martin Amidu’s narrative made sense to his both his opponents and even non-partisans.
However this ends, our country and nation would never be the same again looking at the colour of the 8th Parliament and how awoke citizens have become.
