President Akufo-Addo has announced in his 21st national address that all tertiary institutions both public and private would resume school Saturday January 9, 2021.
For secondary schools, final year students are expected to resume on January 18, 2020 whereas second year and first year students are expected to resume in March this year.
For kindergarten, basic and junior high schools both public and private are expected to resume on January 15, 2020.
There would be no mass gatherings and sporting activities as the schools resume.
All safety protocols are to be complied with, the president indicated.
In justifying reasons for the reopening of schools, the president stated that from the government’s own assessment, it is safe for schools to be reopened.
He further announced that the double-track system will apply to SHS 2 students.
He explained the reopening was done in consultation with the appropriate stakeholders.
He said the fumigation of schools will commence on Monday, January 4, 2021, before the reopening.
The government he added will also provide face masks, Veronica buckets and hand sanitizers for the safe reopening of schools.
