A group of New Patriotic Party supporters is appealing to President Akufo-Addo to appoint Prof. Frimpong Boateng as the Health Minister.
The group led by Mr. Duncan is of the view that the current Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment has proven beyond a reasonable doubt he will perform should he be appointed as Health Minister.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said the professor is credited with the record as the first Black Medical Doctor to have transplanted heart, in Germany, 1985, at the age of 35.
He argues the celebrated medical practitioner is also credited with the establishment of the Cardiac Centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital when he was the CEO.
He further argues that no CEO in Ghana’s history has managed to transform Korle-Bu as Professor Frimpong Boateng did.
“Since 1923, where Korle-Bu Teaching hospital came into existence, there had been a succession of chief executive officers none of them could fence the total circumference cum perimeters of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital because it was capital intensive to fence the Hospital.
Professor Frimpong Boateng on becoming the chief executive officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital about a decade ago made history.
With prudent and judicious management of resources; with determination and commitment to safeguarding Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital from the invasion of disease-causing organisms and inveterate trespassing of people from different backgrounds with hospital unfriendly activities, he fenced the entire Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital – a record that remains unique to Prof FB.”
He added: “With his aptitude and naturally endowed science and medicine phenomenon, professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng has trained over 50 heart surgeon. When talking about medicine and science, Professor Frimpong Boateng is phenomenal – he is a hypothesis for research.
The achievements of Professor Frimpong Boateng as the CEO of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital are monumental it will forever remain in the history of medicine and science in Ghana.”
