Mr. Yaw Ofori Debrah, the Chairman for the Disability Council has slammed persons who have said that Mr. Joshua Makabu, the Oti Regional minister-designate would not perform because he is physically disabled.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87/5Fm, he said this is not the first time a physically challenged person has been appointed for a ministerial position.
He indicated that when Dr. Seidu Danaa was appointed as Chieftaincy Minister under former President John Mahama, people stood against it but he distinguished himself.
He was optimistic Mr. Makubu will perform and shame his critics.
According to him, those making such claims had wished the appointment had gone to persons they loved.
He said several persons with disabilities are working in our state institutions including the education, Attorney General’s office among others.
Disability he noted is not inability hence Ghanaians should trust that he will perform.
The minister-designate he said is dedicated, hardworking and competent for the job he has been given.
For him, the appointee has proven beyond doubt that he is a man who can do the job he has been given.
