The Omanhene of Cape Coast, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, has in collaboration with the Central Regional Police Command embarked on the free distribution of face masks in his jurisdiction.
The exercise has become necessary following the excuses given by some residents who have refused to comply with the mandatory wearing of masks as directed by the president.
The police are said to have arrested over 440 residents for failing to wear nose masks in the area.
The reason for them refusing to wear the masks they say is because they lack the resources to purchase the nose masks.
For this reason, the traditional leader has embarked on an exercise to distribute free nose masks to the residents.
He has admonished them to adhere strictly to the safety protocols to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Ghana is currently recording nearly 600 cases on daily basis with the death toll hitting 372.
