Dr. Kpessa-Whyte, the second witness in the election petition has insisted that the Electoral Commissioner Mrs. Jean Mensa instructed him and Rojo Mettle Nunoo to go and confer with former President John Dramani on the challenges they had they had raised.
When he appeared in the witness box, he was confronted with the question of why he left the strong room.
It was put to him that he lied and peddled falsehood just to court public sympathy and cast the EC in a negative light.
However, the witness said he had no reason to lie before the court.
The witness had in his witness statement noted that NDC’s representatives in the strongroom were sent by the EC chair to deliver a message to their Presidential candidate.
While they were on their way, she switched off their phones and held a press conference.
But during cross-examination, the witness was told that he lied about this information but he insisted he did not lie as the lead counsels for the 1st and 2nd respondents.
Meanwhile, he admitted under oath that he did not personally speak to the EC chair but his other representative confirmed to him that the EC had instructed them to go and confer with the petitioner.\
He explained the two of them left in good and with the hope that the EC Chair would have acted fairly.
After the end of the cross-examination, the judges asked the witness reasons the two of them left the strong room when only could have left.
They also told him he failed in his duty as an agent for the petitioner but his lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata took offence and said the judge was harassing the witness and imposing his opinion on him.
