The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has disclosed that between March last year till date, they have lost more than 12 mortuary workers in relation to the coronavirus.
General Secretary of MOWAG, Mr. Richard Jordan said this figure has been confirmed but there is another figure of 6 persons who have also lost their lives but it has not been confirmed to be coronavirus.
He disclosed this in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
Mr. Jordan said their members are highly at risk because the needed resources for their work is not also readily available.
He advised the government to provide them with the needed resources at all times and not only when there is an outbreak of a pandemic.
He is also stating that the number of people who die in their various houses of COVID-19 without knowing the cause is more than the deaths being recorded by the government.
He further noted that the lack of interest in postmortem to establish the true cause of deaths from homes is making it difficult to know the true figures in the covid related deaths.
