Adjei Sowah is the most arrogant, selfish, NPP member-NPP man

February 6, 2021

The member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), who recently slammed the former Major of Accra Nii Adjei Sowah for contributing nothing to the victory of President Akufo-Addo in the 2020 presidential election, has thrown more salvos.

According to him, after his Facebook live video touching on what contributed to the poor performance of the party in the Odododiodoo, he has been verbally attacked by supporters and assigns of the former mayor who is seeking an opportunity to be maintained.

Vincent Nii Okai, a researcher and a member of the party in the Odododiodoo constituency three days ago took the former Mayor to the cleaners saying he was nowhere to be found during the campaign period.

He called on the President to remove him from office because he failed to use his office and influence to campaign for the party in the constituency.

He had claimed that several issues that led to the defeat of the party’s parliamentary candidate in 2020, he said disunity, selfish interests on the part of some individuals did not help the party.

He indicated that instead of the former Mayor using his influence and office to campaign for the NPP, he relaxed and only came around when the President was visiting.

According to him, the former mayor should be shown the exit because he will create problems if he is retained.

He had also proposed the name of private legal practitioner Niibi Ayibonte as the new Mayor.

In his view, the former MP for the area is a unifier, highly respected, and a man who can unite the rank and file of the NPP in the constituency.

However, after his Facebook live video, the NPP member says he has been attacked for speaking the truth.

He insisted that the former mayor contributed nothing to the victory of the President.

In clarifying further, he said his submission did not mean that the former mayor did not contribute financially to the campaign.

He said, “I did not say the former mayor did not contribute financially. What I meant was that he did not use his office to influence the campaign. He could have done better. His presence was far better than the money. After the video, some persons called explaining that he was not well and was feeling sick almost every two weeks. I pitied him when I heard that but it seems people have misconstrued my comments and attacking me and saying the mayor contributed financially to the campaign. That was not my point. My submission was that the mayor could have used his office and influence to campaign for the party. His physical presence was far superior to that of his money. It would have been better if he was present during the campaign. I don’t appoint the mayor, it is the President who appoints the mayor but Nii Adjei Sowah is not the best candidate. He should be removed. He has served four years and another person should be appointed.”

He further described the mayor as the most arrogant member in the NPP and also lacks respect for others.

He also claimed that Nii Adjei Sowah has transferred his votes and does even have his vote in the three jurisdictions under his office.

According to him, another name for the mayor has emerged but he would not want the former mayor to be reappointed.

Nii Adams went on to state that some individuals are benefitting financially from the former mayor and because of that, they do not want him to be sacked. These persons are insulting Niibi Ayibonte and describing him as an unemployed man.

“Niibi Ayibontey had not instructed me or paid me to do this. What I said was that I heard his name mentioned as the better candidate. When I heard his name, I also felt he was the best candidate. I would like to apologize to him for the insults that have been thrown at him. Unfortunately, this has happened. Niibi Ayibonte is a renowned lawyer and not unemployed. It is rather Sowah who is unemployed. He (Sowah) should tell us what he has done in the constituency? He could have even used his office to lobby for the one district one factory. We didn’t see his 23 years of social entrepreneurship experience in his work as a mayor. I repeat, he is the most arrogant person in NPP and selfish. You have abandoned all these things and attacking Niibi. If anyone thinks I have defamed them, they can sue me if not, stop attacking me.”
