The Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has asked the President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure regional balance in his ministerial appointments.
In his opening remarks on the first day of vetting of Health Minister-designate, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, the Minority Leader revealed that the Upper East and Oti regions were conspicuously missing his first batch of appointments.
Haruna Iddrisu admonished the President to take a cue and reconsider his next batch of appointments and ensure there is a regional balance. and diversity.
The lawmaker noted that it would promote national unity should the President consider his appeal.
Meanwhile, he has underscored the need for the House to consider a cap on the number of appointments made by the President.
In his considered view, he said the House to set limits for the President and future presidents for Ghana generally to protect the public purse.
He assured the Speaker that the Minority is not on the committee to embark on any act of witch-hunting but to examine the record of ministers-designate and hold them accountable to the people of Ghana in accordance with facts and the law.
