The Member of Parliament for Builsa South has described the education on Covid-19 as poor.
He says the education currently on the covid-19 virus has been abysmal.
He is therefore proposing for the National Communication Authority (NCA) and the National Media Commission (NMC) to engage the media in Ghana to dedicate time to educate the citizenry on the deadly virus.
He believes that Ghanaians need to be constantly reminded of the dangers associated with contracting the virus and how to contain the spread.
The lawmaker said Ghana is currently in crisis and the NMC, NCA must issue a joint directive admonishing the media to allocate time in addressing the virus which has so far killed over 560 people.
“NMC and NCA, issue a joint directive to all media houses to devote time and space to COVID 19 education, which has been abysmal. Citizens need a constant reminder about what they ought to do to protect themselves. We are in a crisis, our media, a public resource must be deployed.”
As a former member of the NMC, he said the Media facilitates access to information and increases the speed with which new information is consumed and processed, especially in crises such as the COVID pandemic.
