Former Deputy Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has retracted and apologised to the Supreme Court over some scandalous comments he made in respect to the ruling on the application filed by petitioner John Dramani Mahama to reopen his case.
The lawyer and MP last week after the unanimous ruling said he was of the view that the hearing had been “predetermined.”
“We have made it abundantly clear in the petition that there were a number of infractions, we are contesting even the constitutionality of the declaration that was made. We are saying that she violated Article 23 because she is an administrative body, we have also said the exercise of discretion was contrary to Article 296 of the Constitution.
But the panel hearing the matter cited him for contempt describing his comments as scandalous.
He was asked to purge himself by retracting and apologising through the same means he used in scandalising the court.
He has since apologised and waiting for the court to strike out the contempt charges just as they promised to do after his apology.
