Sixteen persons have died in a gory accident between two buses at Akim Asafo on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
Information gathered indicates that the accident occurred around 1:30 am on Friday, was caused by the wrongful overtaking of one of the drivers involved.
The Police who confirmed the accident said the driver of the Kia Granbird bus heading toward Kumasi attempted to overtake leading to head-on with another Kia Granbird bus which was coming from Kumasi.
Police said the 16 fatalities recorded from the crash, including the driver believed to be at fault, died on the spot.
Some others have also sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the deceased persons have been sent to the Suhum Government Hospital mortuary for preservation, identification and autopsy.
