Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Mrs. Samira Bawumia, have received their jabs of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
The two received their jabs at the Police Hospital in Accra on Monday, March 1, 2021.
The Vice President in, an address after receiving the jab, encouraged Ghanaians to cooperate with the exercise and discard any myths and conspiracy theories about the vaccine.
According to him, the vaccine safe and that if it was not safe, the President would not have approved its use.
President Akufo-Addo had earlier received his jab together with his wife Mrfs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo at the 37 Military Hospital.
Ghana became the first country outside India to receive COVID-19 vaccine doses shipped via the COVAX Facility.
The delivery was part of the first wave of arrivals that will continue in the coming days and weeks.
COVAX is co-led by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), working in partnership with UNICEF as well as the World Bank, civil society organisations, manufacturers, and others.
