The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his wife, Lady Julia, have received their first dose if the covid-19 vaccine.
The two received the vaccine at the Manhyia Palace to bolster public confidence and encourage all to participate in the inoculation exercise, today, Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Although he did not make any public statement, the traditional ruler was heard telling the nurse, Lydia Owusu Ansah, who gave him the shot: “have you finished. But this is not painful at all”.
He was joined by the Mamponghene, Nana Osei Bonsu and the Mamponghemaa, Agyakoma Difia.
Later on his page on Facebook, he wrote: ”Today, March 2, 2021, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene; Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of Asantehene; Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene, and Nana Agyakoma Difie II, Queen mother of Mampong took the COVID-19 vaccine at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi-Ghana
.“It is in the collective interest of all Ghanaians to take this vaccine so that, together, we can eradicate this deadly virus from our country.”
Meanwhile, a total of 150,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines are to be given out in the Ashanti Region.
