The bodies of twelve children have been retrieved from the Apam river in the Central Region, after going swimming on Monday, March 8.
The bodies according to Rainbow Radio’s Nana Yaw Asare are among some 20 children feared dead.
According to him, the District Police Commander, DSP Moses Osakono confirmed that eight bodies have so far been retrieved from the river.
The report said a search party has been dispatched to the scene to help retrieve the remaining bodies.
The officer disclosed that although the river was inaccessible to residents due to the restrictions on beach activities, the children managed to visit the river on the blind side of their parents.
