He explained to the media that the decision was reached because the Minister-designate for Finance Ken Ofori-Atta is still in the United States of America (USA) for a medical review.

He has also not been vetted and approved by parliament.

The retreat was organized to help the appointees sign off on the key priorities of President Akufo-Addo’s second term of administration.

According to the Minister, the President Akufo-Addo used the retreat to issue new policy directives especially to new ministers who have just joined the administration.

The Minister further disclosed that the Presidential state of the nation’s address slated for Tuesday, March 9, 2021, will emphasize on the Covid-19 Economic Recovery Programs.

He said the Covid-19 response programs have slowed our economy and has increased our debt but it doesn’t make us a HIPC.

On health, he said as of 7th March 2021, a total of 202, 252 persons have been successfully vaccinated nationwide.

He said an app will be developed to keep records on information on vaccination and persons who have been vaccinated.

The government is also expecting more than 2 million vaccines by the end of March 2021.

He added that not all persons who will have adverse effects will receive compensations but only the unknown unexpected rare adverse effects normally due to allergies will receive compensations from the manufacturers.
