President Akufo-Addo says his government found money to cushion the impact of the Covid-19 because there are good managers of the economy and the public purse
He said in the face of the pandemic, lives have been ravaged, impacted heavily on economic activities, created uncertainties, and put a strain on weak and fragile health facilities in developing countries.
He said Ghana has made significant gains economically with an annual growth of 7% since 2017.
He said the Covid-19 business tracker has led to job losses, cutting of wages with over 42,000 persons losing their jobs.
He noted the government succeeded in protecting the jobs of public sector workers.
He indicated that the Ghana Revenue Authority also extended the filing of taxes from four months to six months to cushion people.
To facilitate the Ghana Beyond Aid program, government has also put in place the One Billion Cedis Ghana Cares Obaatanpa program, he added.
According to him, the government is expecting GDP growth to bounce this year by nearly 5%.
To him, most of the 2016 promises made have been fulfilled despite some challenges faced. He adds that his administration will ensure all promises are made reality.
The President said despite the adverse effect of Covid-19, a relatively stable exchange rate, single digit inflation, increasing job creation, a 7 per cent GDP were achieved at the end of his first administration.
