The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak, has raised concerns over a media report attributed to Asaase Radio saying the President is expected to appoint three deputies for Finance, Energy and Information Ministries.
According to the report, the President is expected to announce three deputies each for the Finance, Energy and Information Ministries.
Per the media report, Charles Adu-Boahen and Abena Osei Asare would be maintained as deputy Finance Ministers.
The Energy Ministry would also have Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, the MP for Sekondi as one of the three deputy ministers wheres for the Information Ministry, Fatimatu Abubakar, the Deputy Director of Communications at the Presidency is expected to be appointed.
Also, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice will get two deputies, the report added.
Reacting to this report, the legislator said it would be unfortunate for the President to make such appointments if the story was true.
According to him, the President told Ghanaians he would reduce the number of his ministers hence such appointments will defeat that pledge.
He indicated that per the trend, we would witness a situation where the Presidential will appoint several presidential staffers, aides and spokespersons in sharp contrast to what he told Ghanaians.
Hr asked Ghanaians to brace themselves for more of such appointments in our institutions if the list going viral on social media was true.
”Three, two deputies already? Likely to be the trend. If this turns out to be, then CEOs will also have two, three deputies! Presidential staffers, aides. Then spokespersons, Pros for MDAs! Hold your breath GH!”
