The Ofankor District court hearing the alleged murder of the 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdallah at Kasoa, has given the Police two weeks to establish the actual age of one of the two teenage accused persons.
The Court presided over by Mr Samuel Adjei gave the order when the case came up for hearing today, Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
The Prosecutor, Chief inspector Ernest Agbo told the court that they were yet to conclude reconciliation of the age of the first accused person, Felix Nyarko whose age was given as 16.
During the court proceedings, the judge urged one of the lawyers in court to stand in for the suspects and file a bail application for them.
However, the bail was declined. The judge indicated that he doesn’t have the mandate to grant the suspects bail since the case is above the court.
The accused persons have been remanded to reappear on May 4, 2021.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased have expressed worry that the case would drag.
A spokesperson for the family, Sammed Akalilu told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm felt the ages of the suspects should have been resolved by now.
He said they still trust in due process and will not take the law into their own hands.
He said they cannot get the boy back but the more the case drags the more emotions go high.
He stated they want to see finality to the matter, adding they are a law-abiding family and would not do anything contrary to the law.
