The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has admonished the government to compel religious organizations to file their tax returns.
The party in a statement said although churches and other religious organizations are registered as Limited by Guarantee with the aim of not making profits, some are using their organizations to engage in profit-making business.
Signed by the National Communications Director, Nana Afriyie Owusu, the statement added that strict compliance to the law will ensure that pastors taking advantage of the situation by engaging in money laundering and profit making are dealt with.
He said some men of God have used the situation to amass unexplained wealth for themselves and must be probed.
