President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated that the government will be vaccinating 20 million people against the virus by the end of the year.
According to him, although the government is having challenges to access more vaccines, the target is still to vaccinate that number by end of the year.
He said this when he delivered his 25th address on how his administration has managed the outbreak.
He said nearly one million Ghanaians have received their first dose and it is expected that from Monday May 19, 2021, the deployment of the second dose will begin.
He said efforts are being made to ensure that those who have received their first jab as if March 9, 2021, will receive their second jab.
He said: “…The target is to vaccinate some 20 million Ghanaians at the end of the year.”
He further disclosed that the government is expecting an additional 300,000 Sputnik V vaccines already approved by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
