President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his commitment to the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
He said this in his speech at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Law Village Project.
The President said some persons described the burning of excavators as unlawful, and then only they can seek redress is to go to court, he stated.

He said persons engaging in illegal mining are against the law and have committed grivious crime against the state.

He further stated that those who have also been granted a license but engaging in illegal mining or mining in water bodies are also breaching the law.

The President said the devastation of illegal mining is nothing short of evil and we should not compromise the approach in dealing with the matter.

He added that the equipment used for the illegal activities when seized would no longer be that of its owners.

He called for collaboration in dealing with the galamsey activities.
