The Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey has disclosed that some onion sellers at Agbogloshie have gone to see a spiritualist to have killed because of plans to relocate them.
The Minister said the planned relocation exercise will still be carried out no matter the threats involved.
Speaking on Accra-based NET 2 TV, Henry Quartey said nothing will stop him from ensuring that his ‘Make Accra Work Aagin’ succeeds.
“Whether they like it or not, we will move them because we have made an alternative arrangement for them. I have heard they have gone to some mallam [spiritualist] to kill me. They are kidding. They should tell the mallam [spiritualist] to return to his hometown because so far as God exists, nothing will happen to Henry Quartey by the grace of God, and by July 1, 2021, we shall move them” he said.
The Minister gave the onion sellers at Agbogloshie 7 weeks to relocate to Adjen Kotoku, a community within the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The traders have till July 1, 2021, to relocate or be forced out.
The decongestion exercise is part of the Minister’s ‘Let’s make Accra‘ campaign to improve conditions in the national capital.
