The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) will, on June 28, 2021, file a criminal complaint at the Criminal Investigation Department following the $170 million judgement debt slapped against the country by a London based court.
ASEPA, in a statement, said officials involved in the saga must be investigated and punished if necessary.
In their view, former Energy minister Boakye Agyarko, Madam Gloria Akuffo, the former Attorney General and the current AG, Godfred Dame, must be probed.
The government of Ghana terminated the power agreement with an independent contractor, Ghana Power Generation Company (GPGC).
The power contractor has won a $170 million judgment debt against the Government of Ghana at the London Commercial Court of international arbitration.
The GPCC dragged the government of Ghana to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) after an official termination in 2018, demanding compensation from the government for a breach of the contract.
The court subsequently awarded the company an amount of $170 million to be paid by Ghana.
Ghana challenged the arbitration award in a UK court, but could not meet the deadlines to file its case citing the COVID-19 pandemic among others as reasons for the delay.
Their reasons were rejected by the court, and the judgment debt awarded in favour of the company.
But ASEPA says it would be proper for the matter to be probe and all those involved punished.
