The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin has organized a breakfast meeting with traditional and religious leaders over the move to criminalize Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex + activities.
The meeting was to afford Parliament and the leaders from the religious and traditions to dialogue over the matter.
Rainbow Radio’s parliamentary correspondent, Kuntu Blankson reported that only eight MPs were present at the breakfast meeting.
The eight MPs are the ones who have taken steps to push a Private Members Bill in the house to criminalize LGBTQI+ activities.
The MPs are Samuel Nartey George (Ningo-Prampram), Emmanuel Bedzrah (Ho West), Della Adjoa Sowah (Kpando), John Ntim Fordjour (Assin South), and Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini (Tamale North).
The rest are Helen Adjoa Ntoso (Krachi West) Rita Naa Odoley Sowah (La Dadekotopon) and Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor (South Dayi).
Meanwhile, the prayers by the MPs have sparked reactions on social media with some users slamming them.
Some have asked them to pray against corruption and stop what they are doing.
