A group associated with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Patriotic Ghana has asked the leadership of the party to call party supporters who are leading the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia agenda to order.
Executive Director of the group Kofi Korang says some individuals who want Dr. Bawumia elected as a presidential candidate are breaching the instructions released by the party for all such activities to stop.
He said friends of Dr. Bawumia are always in the news and using funerals of top party officials to campaign for Dr. Bawumia.
He said people who support Bawumia can do so in the quiet because it is not yet time for such activities.
Kofi Korang asked the leadership of the party to call ‘Friends of Bawumia’ to order before the party is thrown into a state of instability.
He was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
He asked John Boadu, the General Secretary to deal with all such persons to deter others who plan to do the same to rescind their decision.
“I believe the party’s leadership is weak and cannot punish those who are breathing the law. The friends of Bawumia lack respect for the party. They do not obey the rules and regulations set out by the party. I want to ask John Boadu to take steps to deal with these persons.”
He added that potential candidates such as Joe Ghartey, Alan Kyeremanten, Adai Nimo, and others have supporters, and should they decide to engage in activities like Friends of Bawumia, then the centre will not hold.
