The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has assured Ghanaians that the Johnson and Johnson vaccines are safe for use.
The Authority has therefore admonished Ghanaians to ignore all the fake news about the vaccines.
Ghana has received some 177,600 Johnson & Johnson single-shot Covid-19 vaccines, the first of its monthly supplies under an arrangement with African Union nations.
Ghana is among the first in the region to receive the J&J single-shots that were manufactured in Africa, Minister of Health Kwaku Agyeman Manu said in the statement.
So far, Ghana has administered over 1.2 million vaccine doses, with about 865,000 recipients awaiting their second jabs, President Nana Akufo-Addo said in his recent Covid-19 update.
Public Relations Officer for the FDA Madam Rhoda Appiah told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that Ghanaians must avail themselves for the vaccination because the vaccines are safe.
He explained that all the necessary safety and quality assurances, have been done, and the public has no fear in taking the jabs.
He added that vaccination is key to reducing the fatalities and reducing the spread of the Covid-19.
