A Deputy Ranking Member on the education committee of parliament has demanded answers as to why authorities have failed to send last questions to all schools despite the government’s claim buying enough past questions with taxpayers’ money.
Dr. Clement Apaaj who is the MP for Builsa South is worried over the issue considering that the 2021 final year exams is set to begin tomorrow, Monday, August 16, 2021.
He is therefore asking all the 723 public secondary schools in Ghana to respond to his questions on whether they received their last questions and the examiners’ report.
He also wants to know when these documents were sent to them.
Education Minister Dr. Yaw Adutwun recently told parliament that the 2020 government through its efforts to help students amid Covid-19 to prepare for the 2020 WASSCE examination, procured 568,755 past questions for students to try their hands on before sitting for the actual exam to help prepare the final year students of our Senior High Schools for the 2021 WASSCE exam.
The Ministry ge disclosed procured 146,954 past questions for the examination and it is paid out of the free Senior High School budget,” he said.
But Dr. Apaak raised issues on the matter and demanded answers over the cost of the questions purchased.
He had argued that there’s no justification for the government to sole-source the contract to Kingdom Books and Stationary.
“I thought that was also strange because if it was not policy and you’re doing it twice in a row and go to the same company, sole-sourced, clearly that should tell you the reason to probe further.
“What is the justification for going to Kingdom books 2 years in a row to procure past examination questions and even at a rate that had varied for about some 32 per cent to do this?
“Actually I have a problem with the pricing as well because sole-sourcing the procurement of this questions from the same company and yet having a variation in the price wherein 2021 it is GHC 78 and 2020 it was GHC 59,” he said.
He is therefore wondering why the past questions have not been distributed to all the public schools we have in the country.

2021 WASSCE: Past Examination Questions and Examiners’ Reports (34,862,412ghc) As WASSCE Starts On Monday, August 16th, 2021.
Folks, the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2021 timetable is out. WASSCE starts on Monday 16th August 2021 and ends on Friday 8th October 2021.
My checks so far indicate that not all schools have received their share of past examination questions and examiners’ reports as of today. I, therefore, seek to find out the following from masters and students in any of the 723 public secondary schools in Ghana:
1) Has/did your school receive(d) its share of the 446,954 past examination questions and examiners’ reports?
2) If your school got the past examination questions and examiners’ reports, when did the past questions and examiners’ reports arrive and when were they distributed?
3) Did your school get the past examination questions and examiners’ reports covering all subjects for which students in your school will be/are being examined? If not, what reasons were given?
4) If your school did not/has not received the past examination questions and examiners’ reports, what reasons have been given?
