Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Patrick Kuma- Aboagye has disclosed that there is pressure on treatment facilities in the country due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
He told journalists on Sunday that there is a lot of pressure on our treatment centres and there is no doubt about that.
He was, however, quick to add that as people are discharged, spaces are created to admit others.
He indicated that Kumasi was the worst, but it has currently improved.
Dr. Kuma-Aboagye explained that the situation could improve today or worsening another day, and that is why they are ensuring that the spread of the virus is contained.
He emphasised if Ghanaians refuse to protect themselves, all our beds would be full, and we would not have enough health workers to manage our cases.
On the outbreak in our schools, he said the positivity rate is declining.
He said so far, a total of 453 schools have recorded cases of Covid-19 with, a cumulative number of students who have tested positive being 3,113.
Out of the figure, 95.6% have recovered, he added.
He said there are currently 136 active cases in our schools compared to 504 some few weeks ago.
He attributed the decline of the positivity rate to strict adherence to safety protocols.
