The Judicial Service Staff Association (JUSAG) has posited that it was unfortunate that Ghanaians wasted time on the alleged bribery allegation against the learned Chief Justice Anin-Yeboah.
According to him, if Ghanaians were constructive and objective, they would not have wasted time on a frivolous allegation of $5 million against the Chief Justice.
He said there was no need for us to have wasted our time on this umeritorous matter.
To him, it was not surprising that President Akufo-Addo rejected the petition to have the Chief Justice removed from office over over a matter that had no merit.
He had earlier predicted that the case would amount to noting because it was unwarranted, umeritorous and without basis.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said they were not surprised because the case right from the onset presented no reasonable picture for anybody to look at.
He explained that such frivolous cases do not only affect the individual because it is not about the Chief Justice but about the office if the Chief Justice.
He said when people denigrate the office of the Chief Justice, they forget that it is the nation they have denigrated.
He added, “before the president came out with his prima facie, I had told the nation that the issue was without merit. We have been vindicated with our position. We are not surprised at the outcome because the case is without merit.
The issue is not about the Chief Justice. The issue is not about Anin-Yeboah. It is about the Office of the Chief Justice. We of the Judicial Service pick it from a point of national and a statutory point of view that the office was under attack. Before you remove the Chief Justice, you must conduct a preliminary investigation and determine a prima facie. When that was done, the petition had no merit and unwarranted”.
