President of Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefo Amoakwa Boadu VIII, has said chiefs of the various traditional councils in the region had been directed not to organize this year’s festival due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
He said the directive was given as part of efforts to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
An eight 8-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet at Awutu Breku in the Central Region on Monday, August 30, 2021.
The victim, according to reports, was aiding his disabled brother on a wheelchair along the road when the bullet hit and killed him instantly Monday morning.
Two others were also hit and are in critical condition after men following the chief priest fired the gunshots.
The incident occurred on the Awutu Bereku Durbar grounds when the Chiefs and Elders were ‘purifying the gods’.
Rainbowradioionline.com gathered that the chiefs were pouring libation through the principal streets of the community when the gun was shot.
But Odeefo Amoakwa Boadu VIII indicated that the traditional council is not aware of the incident.
He said the chiefs were also told not to mark the celebration this year.
”If something went on in Kasoa, I am not aware. But the chiefs were directed not to hold the celebration this year. All the Omanhene in the traditional areas were asked not to hold the festival or hold huge durbars because of the Covid-19 outbreak,” he added.
According to them, they warned the chiefs not to celebrate the festival due to COVID-19 measures but the chiefs ignored their caution.
