President Nana Addo has fulfilled his pledge to pay for the full cost of the surgery of the conjoined twins at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital).
A brief statement issued by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications said the cost would cover the cost of operation and the purchase of surgical equipment).
The operation is expected to commence in the second week of September.
”President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, 31st August 2021, fulfilled the pledge made by Government to pay for the full cost of the surgery of the conjoined twins at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital).
Through the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, an amount of GH¢14,394,397.58 (cost of operation and the purchase of surgical equipment) has been released for the procedure, which is expected to commence in the second week of September,” the statement said.
The presidency in July promised to take up the full cost of surgery to be performed on the conjoined twins at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).
The Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, made the disclosure when she visited the twins and their parents at the Ridge Hospital last month.
“It is my pleasure to announce that the President has said that all related costs, all the cost of this exercise, the state is willing to take over and is ready to take over the cost,” she said.
