The Tamale Technical University has denied granting 175 sports students scholarships contrary to claims by the affected students.
Some of the students had told Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that they were prevented from writing their exams on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, because they had not paid their school fees.
The affected students claimed to have been invited by the school to play justify, so the best performing sportsmen and women are granted scholarships.
However, the Public Relations Officer of the school, Osman Mubarak, told Nyankonton Mu Nsem that no student had been granted any scholarship.
He admitted that there was a justify played in the school, but the school has not finalised the processes for the award of the scholarships.
”For the record, the school has not offered any of the students’ scholarships. You can ask any of the students to show proof. There has been a discussion to give some students scholarships, but we have not finalised the process. So I don’t understand why they go on air to request that they should be granted an opportunity to write their exams when they have not paid their fees,” he added.
He said the students could take the school on if they have evidence that they were granted scholarships and the school failed to deliver their part of the bargain.
Meanwhile, he has indicated that the management of the school is currently in a meeting to grant the affected students an opportunity to write their exams.
