A 5-year-old girl has met her untimely death after a mud house collapsed on her at Nkawkaw Akwasijo.
The minor had gone to play rother with her friends in the area when the unfortunate incident occurred after a heavy downpour.
Grandmother of the deceased, Comfort Amponsah, said the girl was playing with her friends when all of a sudden she heard her grandaughter screaming.
Upon reaching the area, she saw the litter girl lying in the debris of the collapsed mud building.
She had to scream for help but all efforts to save the girl proved futile.
According to her, the mother of the granddaughter is critically ill, and she [grandmother] has been the one caring for the deceased.
She said the situation feels as if something valuable has been taken from her.
The Assemblymember for the area Kamkam Boadu who is himself recovering from a motor accident, confirmed the incident, saying the heavy downpour caused the building to collapse.
The Okyeame for the community Kwesi Wusu commenting on the matter said he is the caretaker for the building, and upon hearing of the collapse, he rushed to the scene and arranged to have the victim sent o the hospital.
According to him, he instructed his grandson to send the victim to the hospital, after which he joined later.
Upon reaching the hospital, his grandson told him the girl was still alive, but unknown to him, she was dead.
