President Akufo-Addo has retained the incumbent District Chief Executive Officer for Akotombra, Mr. Amoah Yawsonin the Western North Region.
The President made the first announcement of his appointment when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Akontombra Kwabena Ebbi II.
His appointment comes barely 24 hours after the President has assured Ghanaians that the list of MMDCEs would be released this month.
President Akufo-Addo disclosed that the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) would be released this month.
He noted that the necessary consultations towards the appointment were ongoing.
The move he said is to ensure that the right persons are appointed for the assemblies.
“This month of September, all these matters will be resolved… in the course of this month, it will be done,” President Akufo-Addo said in response to a question in an interview with Skyypower FM in Takoradi as part of a regional tour.
The President said “there is the need for broad consultations and that is what I have done. We have set up committees at the regional and national levels to make recommendations for me.”
“I have to really make sure the recommendations fit the political purposes of the government and respond to issues of competence, political suitability, and all of these things.”
