The Volta Regional Police Command has advised residents in the region and other areas to come forward with complaints if any over the recent arrest of three suspects in an alleged Police recruitment scam.
According to the Police, the suspects were arrested on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
The regional Public Relations Officer DSP Effia Tenge noted that the arrest “follows a fraudulent Facebook publication purported to have been created by the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr Edward Oduro Kwarteng, advertising to assist potential applicants to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.”
She added that that preliminary investigation into the development revealed that “many victims have paid various sums of money to the fraudsters with the hope of being favoured in the ongoing recruitment exercise.”
She, therefore, advised all victims who have paid monies to the suspects to come forward and file their complaints to help the Police probe and prosecute the matter.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5F, the PRO said, ‘if suspects are arrested and their victims fail to come to the Police to assist with their investigation, it sometimes allow such criminals to be set free and come back to society and become a threat to society.
The three suspects, Amenya Bernard,18, Adikah Godsway, 23, and Wemegah Godson, 21, are currently in police custody.
DSP Tenge emphasised the need for all those who have fell victim to the modus operandi of the suspects to come forward and assist the Police to investigate and prosecute the matter.
She further revealed that two persons in a similar offence had already been arrested and arraigned in court.
