A gynaecologist at the Mamprobi Government Hospital Dr. Benedict Affare has underscored the need for the public to practise family planning.
The medical professional said although there several family planning methods, the public are not interest in them.
He explained that one cannot be forced not to give birth, but there was the need to have family planning methods to help space the children.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said both men and women must be enlightened about the benefits of family planning.
To him, when we do that, we can control our population.
He lamented the unplanned pregnancies people are having, the increase in abortions and yet, low patronage in family planning.
”We have to encourage people to patronize family planning. We need to space our children and reduce the number of children we have without proper planning. The population statistics are increasing, and yet, we have limited infrastructure, and as a people, we have to encourage people to patronize family planning, so we control our population,” he needed.
