The National House of Chiefs has commended the Acting Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for the work he has done so far.
However, the House of Chiefs, believes there was more room for improvement.
The House called on him and his men to intensify security to prevent the increasing rate of numerous broadway light robberies in the capital and other areas.
President of the House, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II addressing the House at a recent meeting noted that the Police must deal with robberies and all other forms of crimes.
He said the protection of human lives and property remains paramount to Ghanaians.
“Moreover, the Acting IGP must take concerted efforts to protect Police Officers in the fight against criminals”, he added.
He added that there are several instances Police Officers suffer injuries and in some cases death at the time of performing their official duties.
“Nananom, therefore, appeals to the government to provide the men and women in uniform with the necessary logistics to discharge their in a sound and a secured environment,” he stated.
The House also called on all financial institutions to comply with the Bank of Ghana’s directive to procure bulletproof bullion vans to protect the Police Officers and bank officials when transporting money from one location to another.
He pledged the support of the House to the security agencies to help fish out perpetrators of all heinous crimes Dr them to face the law.
