General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has taken a swipe at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), over their position taken on the issue of LGBTQI+.
Mr. Boadu says the NDC is part of the Progressive Alliance and one of their principles is to fight for the rights of members of the LGBTQI+ all over the world.
However, they are in Ghana making noise and claiming that they are against it.
The NPP chief scribe asked what principles the NDC is standing for over their current position compared to what they are saying now.
He explained that Ghana has the discipline and acceptable was of sexual practice and that was why the NPP saw no need to jump into the bandwagon.
He said the NPP believes in healthy sexual relationships but also agrees that we must protect the minority.
The NPP he added believes in family systems, chieftaincy, proper customs and none of these things conform to homosexuality.
But in as much as we believe in these things, we believe in the minority interests, minority rights because every citizen has a right, he noted.
Mr. John Boadu indicated that the NPP would be interested in ensuring that whatever bill that would be passed does not trample on the rights of not only the majority but the minority groups.
