Don’t delay passage of anti-LGBTQI+ bill-Bishop to Parl

October 28, 2021

The Abusuapanyin of Gomoa Fetteh who is also a man of God, Bishop Dr. Nana Kobina Acquaye, has urged members of Parliament to stand up against LGBTQIA+ no matter the threats and difficulties they will face.

He asserted that the activities of the LGBTQI+ are against the norms, values, culture and beliefs of Ghanaians.

He advised the entire populace to rally behind leaders of the nation to deal with the issue.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said the Parliament must not delay in passing the anti-LGBTQI+ bill since it is the only way to deal with the matter.

He indicated that the majority of Ghanaians are against the activities of the LGBTQI+, and there was no way Ghanaians were prepared to entertain them in our society.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has stated Members of Parliament will publicly cast their vote on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021, also known as the anti-gay bill.

According to him, the public voting of the bill is “to know where each Member of Parliament stands.”

He said the bill would be passed based on Ghanaian values, common sense and respect for the human rights and freedoms enshrined in the constitution.

“I’m very convinced that the law that will come out of all of this will protect the culture and values of our Ghanaian identity. It is a law I believe that will also take into consideration, the human rights and freedom that have been guaranteed under our constitution.

“And it’s a law that will take into consideration the richness of common sense,” he said in an address when Parliament resumed today, Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
