The Ghana Police Service says it is currently investigating the protest led by Madina MP, lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu last week.Monday, October 25, 2021.
The Police says it is investigating alleged criminal misconduct that occurred that day.
”Following a protest in the Madina Constituency, led by its Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Francis Xavier-Sosu, on Monday, October 25, 2021, the Police commenced investigations into certain alleged criminal acts that occurred.”
According to the Police, the MP was invited to assist them to investigate the unlawful blockade of roads and destruction of property during the protest but refused the invitation.
Three suspects the Police said have been interrogated and they will use all legal means to investigate all other persons involved.
It also denied reports that Police personnel was dispatched on Sunday, October 31, 2021, to arrest the MP during a church service.
According to the service, any plain-clothed officer seen at the premises was there for intelligence gathering and not to effect an arrest.
