The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has urged the government to as a matter of urgency call for the immediate withdrawal of the statement issued by GRA on the review of the 50% and 30% reduction of the benchmark value policy.
According to GUTA, it has come to their notice that Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has issued a statement informing the public that the 50% benchmark value reduction policy has been reversed.
GUTA says it will not accept this directive and therefore told its members of the trading community to ignore this statement from the GRA.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Dr. Joseph Obeng, GUTA President said, their doors are opened to the government’s quest for stakeholders’ engagement on the matter.
Dr. Joseph Obeng appealed to members of the trading community, especially importers to calm down and do not pay any additional amount on duty for clearance, as they await a response from the government on this serious matter.
He lamented the negative impact the covid-19 on businesses saying Ghanaian businesses would struggle to survive should this be done.
