Members of #FixTheCountry have held a demonstration today, Friday, November 26, 2021, in Accra
The demonstration was held against the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-ley) in the 2022 Budget is currently ongoing in Accra.
The “Y3NTUA DEMO” ended in Parliament with a petition submitted by the group demanding the withdrawal of the E-Levy presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
The demonstration saw some groups and individuals including broadcast journalists joining.
A newly created group, Unemployed Graduates Network also joined the demonstration.
Several of the participants argued that the 2022 budget presented last week is insensitive and has nothing valuable for Ghanaians.
According to them, it would rather worsen the lights of Ghanaians and make them poorer.
They, therefore, want the government to address the concerns they have raised.
Meanwhile, parliament will today, through a secret balloting vote on the budget.
Speaking in the House on Thursday, the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu served notice his side will reject the budget as a result of the 1.75% Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy).
He disclosed that their side will revoke Article 104 of the 1992 Constitution to demand voting by secret on the Economic Policy aspect of the budget statement.
The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh on his part said they are prepared to face off with the Minority.
