A Kaneshie District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the Madina MP, Francis-Xavier Sosu.
The warrant followed his absence from the hearing at the Kaneshie District Court today, Monday, November 29, 2021.
The prosecution told the court that the warrant was necessary because the MP is showing disrespect to the court.
Lawyer for the MP, Victor Adawudu told the court the MP is attending a parliamentary committee meeting and was, therefore, unable to show up in court.
But prosecutor, ASP Sylvestre Asare told the court that it was clear that for such a criminal matter, the court had the discretion to issue a warrant for the arrest of the MP.
“He has a clear intention and has demonstrated that to this court. it amounts to disrespect to this court,” ASP Asare told the court.
