A 13-year-old (name withheld) junior high school dropout is currently in the grips of the police for allegedly stabbing his friend, a 15-year-old boy, to death with scissors.
The boy allegedly stabbed his friend at Antoa Krobo in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.
The juvenile was taken to Antoa Police Station by unit committee members at Krobo on Thursday, December 2, 2021, a day after he allegedly killed the deceased, Louis Appiah.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the Assemblymember for one of the areas which share boundaries with the community the incident occurred, Hon Augustus Asiedu said he personally spoke to the minor and he confirmed stabbing the 15-year-old friend but was not aware he was dead.
He disclosed that the minor and the friend fought over slippers which led to him (minor) stabbing his friend.
According to him, the minor claimed he (suspect) threw his friend’s slippers on the street and Appiah asked him to retrieve the slippers for him.
He went for the slippers and gave them to Appiah but unhappy with what happened, Appiah reportedly insulted him following which they fought.
The minor suspect who was at the time wielding scissors allegedly stabbed Appiah in the neck, a situation that led to his death.
The 13-year-old boy said he was then apprehended by some residents in the area accusing him of killing his friend.
Mr. Asiedu said Appiah was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital and his body has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.
