A lot of aquatics in the Weija lake of Accra are dead as the colour of the water turns black.

The stench from the water is also not pleasant enough.

As many sense, a possible chemical infection, a fisher at bay blamed the polluted water and death of fishes on sanitation ills upstream. With a resident within the neighborhood, the death of fishes is a result of an overflow of the sea from the Bortiano and Tetegu ends of the ocean.

As per general knowledge, creatures in the sea are unable to survive should they mistakenly find themselves in rivers, and the reverse. This, this resident asserts could be the cause of the disaster.

But the fisher who blamed the polluted water body on sanitation ills pointed to a refuse dump in a drain (Faafu) at the industrial enclave of SCC that joins the Weija lake.
