A Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee has called for an independent probe into the technical hutch and change of results for WASSCE 2021 on their website.
The MP says the issue is a terrible one and must be investigated.
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has disclosed that there was a technical hitch experienced on its website where candidates who say for the WASSCE this year checked their results.
A statement issued by WAEC said the technical hitch resulted in the change of results.
According to WAEC, the original results of some subjects which had a score of B3 were changed to A1 with the interpretation of Good showing.
“One of the Council’s platforms, ERESULTS.WAECGH.ORG, used for checking of results experienced a technical hitch on Friday, 10th December, 2021 between 4.45 p.m. and 6.00p.m.
This resulted in subjects which originally had Grade B3 with the interpretation, GOOD being changed to Grade A1 with the interpretation GOOD still showing, clearly indicating an error.
The system has been shut down and the problem resolved. Members of the public are assured that our Results Database is secure and intact.
The Council sincerely apologises to members of the public for the anxiety and inconvenience caused,” the statement added.
Reacting, Dr. Apaak said WAEC cannot be trusted based on recent and similar issues.
According to him, issues relating to examination leakages and and their alleged complicity makes them incapable to probe the matter.
He is therefore suggesting an independent body to probe the matter.
“Shocking, unbelievable! There must be an independent probe into this issue. WAEC cannot be trusted based on recent revelations suggesting complicity in examination leakages. The integrity of WAEC is clearly in question.”
